Overpronation Running Shoes

There are many manufacturers of overpronation running shoes. However, all the leading manufacturing brands of running shoe design shoes for people with a neutral gait, runners who overpronate, and runners who supinate. We will now look at these overpronation shoes in more detail.

What is overpronation

Overpronation is when your foot rolls in when you land as you run or walk. As a result, the arches of your feet fall as you walk, known as flat feet.

Overpronation can be confirmed by checking the wear on your runners, getting gait analysis, or doing the wet feet test. You can read a more detailed article on foot pronation and supination by clicking here.

There are different treatments for overpronation, which I have discussed in more detail in the article linked above this. However, one of the principal treatments is to wear supportive shoes.

We will now look at these running shoes in more detail.

Asics shoes for overpronation

They have three makes of shoes for overpronation

Asics Gel Kayano 28 – Asics gel Kayano is the go-to Asics shoe for overpronation. They have been making the Kayano for over 30 years. Asics Kayano goes from strength to strength with each new version. The shoe has a high level of cushioning and stability, so it stops your foot from rolling in. They are very durable shoes. They have a gusseted tongue which helps to keep your foot in place.

Asics GT 2000 10 – This is another classic Asics support shoe that has received quite a few upgrades in cushioning and support. The shoe is lightweight and comfortable, has a large toe box, has a thick ankle collar, and has a durable outer sole. Unfortunately, they are long, and the tongue is overly padded.

Asics GT 1000 10 – these are the cheaper relation of the Gel Kayano. They have pretty good support keeping our leg from rolling in. However, the cushioning does not feel as soft or responsive as the Kayano. So if you plan on doing significant mileage, these are not the shoes for you.

Overall if you buy Asics runners for pronation I would recommend Asics gel Kayano 28 which you can buy by clicking here.

Brooks shoes for overpronation overpronation running shoes

They have three makes of shoes for overpronation.

Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 – The adrenaline GTS range is one of the longest-serving shoes for overpronation. These shoes are aimed at mild to moderate overpronators. These are the most popular brand of Brooks overpronators as they offer a perfect mix of support and cushioning with guide rails technology for stability. This guide rails technology wraps around the heel keeping your foot and ankle steady as you move from your heel to your toes. This shoe is suited for long runs as well as speed runs.

Brooks Glycerin GTS 19 – The Glycerin GTS range is one of the best cushioning shoes for moderate overpronation. They have great cushioning, and they are durable, breathable, and fit true to size. This shoe is suited to long runs, not ideal for speed runs.

Brooks Launch GTS 8 – The Launch GTS range is aimed at the mild overpronator. The main of the shoe is to only give mild support to overpronators. This shoe is aimed more at speed and tempo runs and does not suit long-distance runs. The Launch GTS is a stable shoe, snug fit, gusseted tongue, breathable and durable. The disadvantage is that it has a narrow midfoot, and the heel slips.

If you are an overpronator and have decided that you will buy a Brooks stability shoe, I would recommend buying Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 by clicking here.

These shoes don’t lack anything in the support to prevent my ankle from rolling in, as it feels very supportive. This shoe has many advantages. They correct overpronation but still keep the shoe flexible to give a smooth ride, have soft, breathable mesh, and an ISO lacing system that stops the foot from moving around.

Saucony Guide 14 – this is a stability shoe for the medium overpronator. This shoe also uses the PWRRUN cushioning system. Formfit helps out shoes to wrap and fit around our entire foot. It has an enhanced heel fit and feels lighter.

Saucony Omni 20 – this is a stability shoe for the maximum overpronator. This shoe has a great bounce to it. This shoe also uses the PWRRUN+ cushioning. Formfit hugs the foot in 3d comfort, giving the ideal fit, it has a redesigned internal heel counter which provides additional gait analysis.
